When I decided to make an art car I wanted to do something that would make people happy. I was already making copper and brass bubble wands, and as I watched a small child make bubbles with one of my wands I knew then I was going to make my art car a bubble truck.
I had originally planned on driving my bubble truck for art car events and charity only. However, after just a few outings in it, I received dozens of requests to do birthday parties. From there the Bubble Truck took off and I now attend parties, parades and corporate events. I especially enjoy working at the charity events bringing happiness to everyone.
Through the experience of driving the bubble truck I learned to give and receive happiness. I have also benefited by having my creativity brought to another level. I have patents on a few toys and other ideas, and I have also written a children's book The Bubble Truck Goes to the Moon.
In 2007, I made bubbles for a fund raising event known as the Special Olympics of Kentucky, Polar Bear Plunge, and I took the plunge into the extremely cold water (35 degrees in the mighty Ohio River).
When I got out I saw a young girl in a wheelchair and at that moment I knew I had to do something for kids in wheelchairs. With this in mind, I started a charity that will help children in wheelchairs personalize their 'ride'. I meet with children and ask them how they would like their chairs customized, and then get to work creating it for them.
The bubble truck has undergone many changes and I think it will always be a work in progress.
